DELE MOMODU: MY SOUL HAS LEFT PDP, PARTY WON’T DEFEAT APC IN 2027 WITHOUT COALITION
GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation International, has declared that his soul has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s internal divisions and alleged sabotage as reasons for his disillusionment. Momodu believes the PDP won’t defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections without a strong coalition of political parties

Reasons for PDP’s Struggles:
– Internal Sabotage: Momodu attributes the PDP’s struggles to internal sabotage, claiming some members work against the party’s stability and progress.
– Lack of Unity: He emphasizes that a fractured PDP stands no chance against the APC in the next election cycle.
– APC’s Strategy: Momodu accuses the APC of weakening the opposition by orchestrating crises within the PDP and other major opposition parties
Path to Victory:
– Coalition Building: Momodu suggests a strong coalition of political parties could dislodge the APC in 2027.
– Regional Opposition: He believes a candidate from a different region could challenge President Bola Tinubu effectively.
– United Opposition: A united PDP or a coalition of opposition parties is crucial to defeating the APC in the 2027 elections
Momodu, who stated this during an interview on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State’s programme, on Tuesday, 10 June, 2025, bemoaned the division within the PDP.
According to the PDP chieftain, forces within and outside the party will make it very difficult to defeat the ruling party in 2027 general elections
“My soul has left the PDP; it’s only my body that remains. “If the PDP were united, it could defeat the APC in 2027..But too many forces within and outside are fighting against this.”
His comments come following a deluge of defections from the PDP to APC.
Momodu added that, “the ruling party’s strategy is to weaken the opposition.”
