as involved in a heated altercation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday, August 5, 2025, after attempting to board a ValueJet flight to Lagos with a flask containing alcohol, exceeding the 100ml liquid limit allowed by aviation security regulations.
*The Confrontation:*
– K1 De Ultimate refused to comply with regulations despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security personnel and the flight captain.
– He allegedly poured the liquid on a security officer and resisted attempts to de-escalate the situation.
– The musician then moved to the front of the aircraft and refused to vacate the area, delaying the flight’s departure.
*The Aftermath:*
– K1 De Ultimate was escorted away by AVSEC’s crime unit for further investigation and later released.
– The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched an investigation into the incident, emphasizing its commitment to upholding aviation safety standards.
– The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the two ValueJet pilots involved in the incident for a “serious breach of aviation safety” protocols .
*FAAN’s Stance:*
– FAAN has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on security violations, stressing that no individual, regardless of status, will be allowed to compromise aviation safety standards.

Apart from the suspension of the pilots, the aviation authority is said to be considering putting K1 on a ‘no-fly list’, over his conduct.
A ‘no-fly list’ is a database of individuals prohibited from boarding commercial flights due to suspected links to terrorism or other security threats.
