GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has made a grand return to Port Harcourt, arriving at the Port Harcourt International Airport around 11:50 a.m. on Friday. This comes more than 24 hours after President Bola Tinubu lifted the six-month emergency rule imposed on the state.
Key Highlights:
– Jubilant Welcome: A large crowd of supporters gathered at the VIP wing of the airport to welcome Fubara back, showcasing their enthusiasm and loyalty.
– End of Emergency Rule:The emergency rule, which was imposed in March due to a political crisis, has been lifted, paving the way for Fubara to resume his duties as governor.
– Smooth Transition: The Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has handed over power to Fubara, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of governance in the state
Although the Rivers State House of Assembly reconvened under Speaker Martins Amaewhule on Thursday, Fubara did not appear at the Government House despite a large turnout of supporters who had assembled in anticipation of his presence.
The governor, alongside his deputy, Ngozi Odu, is expected to resume official duties following months of political tension that culminated in the declaration of emergency rule
