
“EMPOWERING ENERGY REPORTERS: SAHARA GROUP AND NAEC LAUNCH #M.A.DWITH NAEC WORKSHOP”
GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–Sahara Group, in collaboration with the Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC), has announced the #M.A.DwithNAEC Workshop, a flagship initiative designed to promote excellence and sustainability in energy reporting. The workshop aims to equip energy reporters with the skills needed to drive Nigeria’s energy sector reforms and global energy transition.
Key Highlights:
– Workshop Details: The pre-conference workshop will take place on October 6, 2025, at Joygate Hotel, Airport Road, Ajao Estate Gate, Lagos.
– Annual NAEC Energy Conference: The workshop precedes the Annual NAEC Energy Conference 2025, scheduled for October 9, 2025, which will bring together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, and journalists to discuss critical issues shaping Nigeria’s energy future.
– Expert Speakers: Sessions will be anchored by industry experts, including Bethel Obioma, Kingsley Okotie, Olabode Sowunmi, and Dr. Vincent Nwanma.
Objectives:
– Enhance Reporting Skills: Support energy reporters in honing their journalistic craft to effectively drive Nigeria’s energy sector reforms and global energy transition.
– Promote Transparency: Foster accurate, responsible, and insightful reporting that shapes perception, attracts investment, and promotes transparency in the energy sector.
– Industry Collaboration: Strengthen partnerships between industry stakeholders, policymakers, and journalists to drive sustainable energy development .
In a joint statement released on Monday, Bethel Obioma, Head of Corporate Communications at Sahara Group, and Ugo Amadi, Chairman of NAEC, confirmed that the initiative forms part of activities lined up ahead of the Annual NAEC Energy Conference 2025, scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
He added: “Every headline, news story and analyses shapes perception. By investing in the capacity of energy journalists, we are strengthening the integrity of Nigeria’s energy ecosystem and ultimately, laying the foundation for seamless knowledge sharing and sustainability in energy reporting.”
Ugo Amadi, Chairman of NAEC, noted that the platform woukd further deepen the knowledge of energy correspondents to effectively play the critical roles of agenda-setting, gate-keeping, and news-gathering.

#M.A.DWithNAEC will feature sessions to be anchored by Obioma, Kingsley Okotie, Head of Corporate Communications at Ikeja Electric Plc; Olabode Sowunmi, Chief Executive Officer of Cabtree Ltd; and Dr. Vincent Nwanma, a member of the Daily Trust Editorial Board.
