“OKE AMU COMMUNITY CELEBRATES UNITY AND PROGRESS: POLICE POST COMPLETED, NEW LEADER APPOINTED”

GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–THE 2025 Oke Amu Community Day celebration brought together sons and daughters from across Nigeria and beyond, marking a significant milestone with the completion of the Oke Amu Police Post, a vital security project initiated in 2022. Elder Bolaji Shitu was appointed as the new Chairman of the Oke Amu Community Development Committee, pledging to unite indigenes to advance the town’s development.
The event featured cultural performances, community reflections, and recognition of outstanding contributors. Hon. Monsuru Olayemi, Executive Chairman of Itesiwaju Local Government, promised to link the Iseyin-Oke Amu road and grade the Alaganran link road within the next year, while urging residents to be vigilant against security threats
The Olugunwa of Oke Amu land, HRM Oba Kasali Oyeniyi Omotoso (Fadeyi I) in his remark commended all sons and daughters of Oke Amu for their support and commitment to the town’s development, urging them to sustain the momentum of unity and progress.
The Kabiesi in his comment delivered by the Chief Salau Adekola, Ikolaba of Oke Amu, commended the Oke Amu Prestige Elite Club for their generous support during the construction of the police post through donations of blocks, cement, sand, water, and money.

Hon. Monsuru Olayemi,, Executive Chairman of Itesiwaju Local Government, who was honoured at the event for the reconstruction of classroom blocks at the Oke Amu L.A. Primary School, assured that the Council would, within the next one year, link the Iseyin–Oke Amu road and grade the Alaganran link road.
He further promised to support the rehabilitation and modernization of the Oke Amu Community Hall.
Hon. Olayemi also charged residents to be vigilant against banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats, while warning against drug abuse among youths.
He encouraged parents to take a more active role in shaping the moral direction of their children.
Olayemi recommended the need for community to honour past contributors, the Oke Amu Community Development Committee announced plans to set up a special committee to recognise both living and late elders who have made outstanding contributions to the community’s progress ahead of the 2026 celebration.
Hon. Akinleye Emmanuel, Chairman of the Oke Amu Day Celebration Committee, on his part expressed heartfelt gratitude to all indigenes, both home and abroad, for their overwhelming support and generosity toward the success of this year’s fundraising programme
“I am sincerely amazed that our people could donate so generously without any element of coercion or force.
“This truly reflects the spirit of patriotism and evidence that the long-lost love for our fatherland has returned,” he said.
Akinleye stated, urging all sons and daughters of Oke Amu to remain steadfast and continue contributing to the development of the community.

Bello further confirmed the community’s resolve to encourage parents to re-enroll their children in public schools within Oke Amu, including the L.A. Primary School, to strengthen local education and communal identity
He announced that preparations were underway for an elaborate 2026 edition, which would feature new development projects and expanded participation from Oke Amu indigenes in the diaspora.
During the event the community also paid glowing tributes to Late Elder Ayoade Adetunji and other departed community leaders.
