The thrilling match saw Chidera Ejuke and Victor Osimhen score crucial goals in extra time, after the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
Akor Adams had initially given Nigeria the lead in the 78th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Gabon. However, Mario Lemina equalized for Gabon in the 89th minute, sending the game into extra time.
Nigeria dominated large portions of the match, creating several chances, but were repeatedly denied by poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping from Gabon. Osimhen, who missed a glorious chance to seal victory late in stoppage time, redeemed himself by scoring two goals in extra time, including the winner.
The Super Eagles will now face the Democratic Republic of Congo in the playoff final, with a spot in the inter-confederation playoffs up for grabs .
