TINUBU UNVEILS NEW OIL REGULATORY TEAM: ABE LEADS NUPRC, ADENIJI TAKES NMDPRA HELM

GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–President Bola Tinubu has nominated Magnus Abe as Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and Adegbite Ebiowei Adeniji as Chairman of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) .
KEY NOMINEES:
– NUPRC Board:
– Magnus Abe (Chairman) – Former NNPC board member and current chairman of the National Agency of the Great Green Wall
– Engineer Paul Yaro Jezhi (Non-Executive Commissioner) – Former Trade Union Congress chairman in Kaduna
– Mr Sunday Adebayo Babalola (Non-Executive Commissioner) – Former deputy director of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR)
– Muhammed Sabo Lamido (Executive Commissioner, Finance) – Appointed by former President Buhari in 2022
– Edu Inyang (Executive Commissioner, Exploration and Acreage) – New appointee
– NMDPRA Board:
– Adegbite Ebiowei Adeniji (Chairman) – Lawyer with over 30 years of experience in energy and natural resources issues
– Chief Kenneth Kobani (Non-Executive Member) – Former minister of state for trade under President Jonathan
– Mrs Asabe Ahmed (Non-Executive Member) – New appointee
– Abiodun Adeniji (Executive Director, Finance) – Appointed by former President Buhari in 2021
President Tinubu had urged the Senate to approve the nominees expeditiously.
Onanuga said the president’s requests follow the recent appointment of chief executive officers for the two regulatory agencies.
The Senate confirmed Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.
He noted that Tinubu had also charged all the appointees and nominees to discharge their duties and responsibilities professionally as regulators of the oil and gas sectors.
