FALANA SOUNDS ALARM: “DON’T LET TRUMP SPARK RELIGIOUS WAR IN NIGERIA”
GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has warned the Federal Government against allowing US President Donald Trump to promote a religious war in Nigeria under the guise of tackling insecurity
KEY ISSUES:
– Religious War Concerns : “Let the Nigerian government be warned not to allow US President Donald Trump to promote religious war in Nigeria. Trump is saying his intervention is to protect Christians”
– Nigerian Forces Capability : “If the members of the armed forces are well equipped and motivated, they can deal with terrorism and banditry”
– Corruption and Equipment : “How do you fight terrorism in an environment where the money budgeted for the procurement of arms and ammunition is stolen by well-known criminal elements in society?”
– Social Insecurity : “You cannot end insecurity in a country without addressing social insecurity. If young people are unemployed and unemployment keeps rising, some will be driven into criminality”
Falana urged the Federal Government to properly equip and motivate the armed forces, stressing that neglect of key security institutions had emboldened criminal groups across the country
