ALHAJI DANGOGO IBRAHIM:
A RISING POLITICAL FIGURE UNDER A CLOUD OF CONTROVERSY
GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–Alhaji Dangogo Ibrahim, a northern-born politician and businessman residing in Igboora, a town along the Oyo State border, has become a name both influential and increasingly controversial in southwestern Nigerian politics. A high-profile politician, Ibrahim has built a quiet political structure over the years, operating behind the scenes and away from social media platforms, where most modern politicians now thrive.
He is known for his firm political ties and vocal support for Fulani herdsmen in and around Ogun State, a position that has generated significant tension in a region often rocked by farmer/herder clashes. While Alhaji Ibrahim claims his stance promotes dialogue and peace, many locals see it as biased and dangerously onesided, especially given the rising security challenges in the area.
But beyond his political leanings, more serious allegations have cast a dark shadow over his public life.
Sometime in November 2022, Alhaji Dangogo was accused of having carnal knowledge of a 10-year-old girl. The news sparked outrage across Oyo and neighbouring states. Despite the gravity of the offence, he was reportedly released by the very people who arrested him after he allegedly oiled their palms with money . This strange action by the people who should have stamped their feet and demanded justice for the family of the innocent girl, further fuel the widespread suspicion that political influence and backdoor dealings may have interfered with due process The silence that followed the incident, both from law enforcement agents who claimed ignorance of such a dastard act in their vicinity, has further deepened public concern.
More troubling, however, is the growing perception of Alhaji Ibrahim’s name being quietly linked to a series of unresolved kidnapping cases in Oyo and Ogun States. Though no official charges have been filed, multiple community sources have alleged that security agencies traced certain patterns and movements related to kidnappers back to his networks. None of these cases have been definitively closed, and no formal indictment has been issued, yet the cloud of suspicion remains thick.
Human rights advocates and civil society organizations have begun to question how someone with such serious allegations hanging over him continues to hold influence within the ruling class. Community members, especially those from affected areas, have called for transparent investigations and a review of his political role.
As Nigeria heads into a critical election season, the controversy surrounding Alhaji Dangogo Ibrahim raises hard questions about leadership, accountability, and justice. For many, he represents a broader problem in the political system where power often shields the powerful from consequences, leaving communities to suffer in silence.
