GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, is celebrating its 17th Convocation Ceremony, marking a milestone in academic excellence and innovation. Professor Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole, the Vice-Chancellor, shared the university’s achievements and vision for the future.
Key Highlights:
– Spiritual Growth: Increased spiritual activities, with doubled attendance at Sunday Service and mid-week services.
– Academic Excellence: Accreditation and re-accreditation of 7 programs by NUC, with 3 new programs awaiting resource verification.
– Innovation: Establishment of College of Health Sciences, Artificial Intelligence degree program, and Research Grant Clinic.
– Student Success : 3,633 graduates, with 76 First Class Honours, and recognition in debate, research, and sports competitions.
– *Infrastructure Development*: Upgrade of healthcare system, bakery, and laundry services, and introduction of Campus Environmental Management Plan.

Excerpts from the Vice Chancellor’s address:
” SHOWCASING AGRICULTURAL, ENGINEERING AND ENTREPRENEURIAL INNOVATIONS
For this year’s convocation, innovations from Ajayi Crowther University’s Faculties of Agriculture and Engineering and the Entrepreneurial Centre were displayed. We featured exhibitions of our students and facultys innovations; mechanised farming equipment, agro-processing machines, solar energy solutions, software applications, and agricultural produce from our University farm. Notable organisations in the areas of Agriculture, Engineering, and Entrepreneurial activities were also invited to showcase their products. The aspects of innovation and creativity exhibited by each of these entities formed the fulcrum of our level of development and social relevance at this time. The exercise has been conceived as a yearly convocation highlight that will encourage our various Faculties, Departments and Units to be more proactive in developing and demonstrating innovations in their areas of specialisation for national development.
The University Management is on the move to greater heights and achievements. The immediate results so far show that the University is moving to the next higher level, by the grace of God.
GRADUANDS STATISTICS
At the 17th Convocation Ceremony, we shall award degrees to 2,336 undergraduate and 1,297 postgraduate students. In the undergraduate category, 76 persons will bag First Class Honours; 1,408 are in the Second Class Honours (Upper) division; 810 are in the Second Class Honours (Lower) division; and 42 are in the Third Class division. The postgraduate category consists of 170 individuals for postgraduate diplomas, and 1,127 for Masters Degree awards in various disciplines.
I congratulate and celebrate all our very dear graduates, the primary reasons for this memorable occasion. I thank God on your behalf that you have been well-clothed in apparel of glory. You have traversed the pathways of learning with perseverance. You have engaged with ideas, challenged assumptions, and grown into thinkers and leaders equipped for the complexities of our world. Whether in the humanities, sciences, applied sciences, or other professional disciplines, your education here has been a transformative journey.
Your success today is a powerful weapon for positive change. The insights and skills you have gained will empower you to address societal needs. You are armed with this powerful tool, and I charge you to use it to uplift communities, champion justice, and pursue excellence with humility. You should be guided by the values of Ajayi Crowther University, which include integrity, compassion and service to humanity.
Dear esteemed graduates, let me reiterate that you are triumphant heroes, and you have a great future of possibilities and purpose ahead of you. Your education has equipped you with the tools to shape tomorrow, to innovate, and to lead in ways that leave a lasting impact; apply them to create your future purposefully. Your journey of learning should not end here but continue into new chapters, contributing meaningfully to the world around you and continually striving for excellence. Finally, on my charge to you dear students, I beseech you to benefit from the words of the Bible Book of Proverbs 1: 5 which says: A wise person listens and takes in more instructions; a man of understanding acquires skillful directions. Prove to be wise by taking in more knowledge at every opportune time. When you follow these counsels, you will definitely make your path straight.
OUR ALUMNI
Our alumni are among our flagships and promoters. As they give us a deep sense of pride and fulfilment, they also serve as great exemplars for other students and a real source of motivation for their lecturers to keep advancing knowledge and uplifting learner. Our alumni are already prime movers in many sectors of our society, and we can annex and leverage on who and what they have become. A good example is Olaseinde-Williams Godwin Oluseye, who graduated from Ajayi Crowther in 2011 as the valedictorian of his set. Oluseye has recently been ranked among the world’s most influential scientists. According to a list of the top two per cent scientists released by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier Data Repository, Oluseye, who is now with Istanbul Ticaret Universitesi, Turkey, was among scientists recognised from universities across the United States, China, Singapore, Nigeria, Australia, Germany, Finland, Great Britain, among others. He has made a substantial impact in his field through his citation influence. This is excellent news, giving us great joy.”
