After a conclave that lasted only three sessions and 24 hours, 133 cardinals have elected Robert Prevost, now known as Pope Leo XIV.

The new pope Robert Prevost will be known as Pope Leo XIV - the first American pontiff to be elected leader of the Catholic Church.

It will leave a 10% import tax on most goods shipped from the UK to the US.

Robert Prevost becomes the first American to be elected pope, following a two-day conclave in Vatican City.
