2. Toba Agboola Re-elected As Chairman Alongside Six Exco Members
_”The exercise saw the re-election of Comrade Toba Agboola of the Nation Newspaper, as the Chairman, along with six other exco members.”_
_”Other re-elected exco members include Sunday Ojeme of New Telegraph Newspaper, as the Vice Chairman; Adenike Owoeye-Ajiboye (Secretary) and Gloria Nwafor of Guardian Newspaper (Assistant Secretary).”_
_”Joy Obakeye of Daily Times retains her position as Treasurer and Andrew Ojiezel of Leadership Newspapers emerged as the Financial Secretary.”_
3. All Candidates Elected Via Affirmation Votes
_”Announcing the results of the affirmation votes, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Comrade Sylvester Okereke, declared that all the six candidates were duly-elected with 19 votes-sixteen voted physically, while three members voted online”_
The voting, which commenced at about 10:25am ended 11:35am, after which votes were collated and counted in the presence of the representatives of the Lagos state council of the NUJ.
The Lagos NUJ Chairman, Comrade Leye Ajayi, who was represented by his Vice Chairman, Comrade Philip Nwosu and the Assistant Secretary, Comrade Olayide Awosanya inaugurated the new exco members, urging them to live up to expectations.
Speaking, the re- elected Chairman, Comrade Agboola appreciated members for re-electing him, promising not to raise the bar in governance and promote robust labour reporting in the country.
Some stakeholders, including members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have congratulated the new exco members on their successful elections.
