JAMB SUSPECTS FOUL PLAY IN 2025 UTME TOP SCORER’S RESULT
GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has raised concerns over the result of Chinedu Okeke, who emerged as the top scorer in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with a score of 375. According to JAMB, Okeke, who applied for Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lagos, is already a student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), where he is studying Medicine.

Key Findings:
– Previous Admission: Okeke was admitted to UNN’s Department of Medicine four years ago and is currently in good academic standing.
– Conflicting Records: JAMB discovered discrepancies in Okeke’s records, including his claimed origin from Lagos instead of Anambra State.
– Suspected Foul Play: JAMB suspects Okeke may have acted as a “mercenary” in the examination, which could undermine the integrity of the UTME process
Investigation and Implications:
– Ongoing Probe: JAMB has launched a full investigation into the matter and may take further action pending its findings.
– Academic Integrity: The case raises questions about academic integrity and dual enrollment in Nigeria’s higher education system.
– UTME Credibility: The outcome of the investigation could have wider implications for the credibility of the UTME system
JAMB also announced that John Ayuba from Gombe State came second in the examinations, scoring 374, while Olayinka Jimoh from Kwara State is third with 373.
Other top scorers are Ayibo Roberts from Rivers, Chibueze Omonugbo from Enugu, Tunmise Olawepo from Kwara and Leslie Afinotan, from Delta, all scoring 373.
Also in the list of top scorers are Chukwuemeka Azoyenime from Delta, Emmanuel Oyebode from Ogun and Cecil Omigie from Edo, all scoring 372 in the examinations.
