KANU DUMPS LEGAL TEAM, TAKES THE MIC – “COURT HAS NO JURISDICTION ”
GREATRIBUNETVNEWS–Lead counsel Kanu Agabi (SAN) and all Senior Advocates of Nigeria on his defence team formally withdrew from the terrorism trial, telling Justice James Omotosho that the defendant had taken back the case file. Kanu then announced he’ll represent himself for now, though he may change his mind later, and flat‑out rejected the judge’s offer to assign a lawyer. In his brief oral argument, Kanu insisted the court lacks jurisdiction to try him.
The trial, which was already on an accelerated schedule, now sees Kanu preparing to call 23 witnesses, including high‑profile figures such as former Defence Minister Theophilus Danjuma, ex‑Chief of Army Staff Tukur Buratai, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Works Minister Dave Umahi, Governors Babajide Sanwo‑Olu and Hope Uzodinma, former AGF Abubakar Malami, and others.
Kanu in his oral submission, has insisted before the judge that the court lacks the jurisdiction to try him.
