“EXECUTED ON CAMERA”: OYO TEACHER KILLED AS TROOPS ARREST SIX IN KIDNAP RAID

GREATRIBUNETVNWES–MAKINDE confirms death of abducted math teacher; security forces hit IEDs in rescue push
Key Issues:
1. Abducted Teacher Killed, Video Sent Out by Captors
_”Gunmen who stormed Ahoro-Esinele Community and snatched seven teachers have killed one of their captives, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed.”
_”The victim was the mathematics teacher, executed on camera and the video sent out this morning.”
_”‘What we know right now is that seven teachers in all were abducted. And, unfortunately, we got a video this morning that one of the teachers… was killed by the terrorists,’ Makinde said in a statement by his media adviser, Dr. Suleimon Olanrewaju.”
2. Rescue Operation Hit by IEDs, Security Personnel Killed
_”Security forces closing in on the kidnappers’ hideout ran into Improvised Explosive Devices planted along the route.”
_”Soldiers, Amotekun operatives, and local vigilantes died in the blasts.”
_”Others are in hospital, with Makinde vowing the state ‘will spare no cost’ for their treatment.”
3. Six Suspects Arrested, More Persons of Interest Detained
_”Six people were picked up in the locality. Police say some are suspected informants and logistics runners for the gang.”_
_”Another security outfit arrested three more persons of interest elsewhere in the state.”
Makinde expressed condolences to the families of the slain teacher and the fallen security personnel. He promised a two-pronged push to free the remaining captives — “both kinetic and non-kinetic” — and asked relatives, religious leaders, and the public for patience.
“There may not be quick fixes, but we will continue to endeavour to push ourselves to the limit to resolve this quickly,” he said.
The governor also flagged a bigger worry: bandits fleeing military pressure in the North-West and North-East are drifting south. He said he’s in talks with the Kwara governor to block the spillover.
“We must be prepared on this side to, also, either repel or neutralise terrorists fleeing the pressure point,” Makinde warned.
He said daily briefings would now update the public as the manhunt continued
